Criollo Mango Tree is Known by Many Names, Corriente, Coche, Mexican, Indio and wild Mexican Mango but no matter what you call it, it is universally loved. Growing up to be big mango trees with excellent production habits it is a great beginner mango as it requires minimal care and has great hardiness. We hand pick the seeds and grows them from seedlings and they fruit after 1 - 2 years of growth making it an incredible mango. With some of our customers reporting their tree giving up to 11 mangos after its third year! This is the one of the 2 mangos we sell that are not grafted as they produce very quickly and are used as rootstock due to their great vigor.
The Fruit are small oval shaped with a orange red blush when ripe. Many people love to eat mangos when they are green for a crunchy snack and this is just the variety for that. Here our customer eat them with salt and lime with chili or just plain to get that crunchy slightly acidic mango taste. Going the other route and eating them when ripe is also a great choice. They have a beautiful aroma and great taste. Being extremely juicy and sweet the only downside is the fiber but the taste, smell, and production outweigh the cons.
