Arkin Star Fruit/Carambola
The Arkin Carambola tree is the most popular variety of star fruit, especially in Florida. The tree grows up to a maximum size of 15 - 20 feet but can be kept at a much manageable size with the proper pruning. The tree is evergreen so it won't lose it leaves in the winter so you will have a beautiful tree all year round. With great production habits this tree starts producing at a young age and only produces more and more as it ages!
The Fruit is medium to large with a bright yellow and orange color. With a crisp and crunchy but extremely juicy flesh it is a wonderful fruit to munch on. With a few seeds in the middle but a unique taste it can be used for a lot of things. Slicing the fruit gives the pieces a star shape hence the name. Packed with vitamins and fiber this fruit should be eaten a lot more.
